- Our story
From workshops in Nepal to homes around the world
Tibet Thangka brings hand-painted thangkas and Nepalese handicraft to people who may never walk into a workshop in Kathmandu. We choose every piece, and we pack every order ourselves at our studio in Portugal.

Why we do this
A thangka is not decoration
For centuries, thangkas have been used for teaching, meditation and blessing a home. They carry real meaning, and the skill to paint them passes from master to apprentice. We want that skill to keep earning a living for the people who hold it.
Chosen piece by piece
We select each painting for the quality of its line, its colour and its proportions. If we would not hang it ourselves, we do not sell it.
Traditional materials
Cotton or silk canvas, natural pigments and real gold, prepared the way thangka painters have worked for centuries.
Fair to the maker
We buy directly from artisans and workshops in Nepal, so more of what you pay reaches the people who made the piece.
The makers
The hands behind the work
Painters, metalsmiths and bead stringers in Nepal. Their names and portraits belong here.
Nepal and Portugal
Two homes, one journey
Our pieces are made in Nepal and checked, photographed and packed in Portugal. From there they travel with tracking to customers across Europe, North America, Australia and beyond. Inside the EU there are no customs fees to pay.
